The Three Features That Change Everything
1. Open Cooking Mode
The TM6 required the lid to be closed for most cooking functions. The TM7 introduces Open Cooking mode — allowing you to stir, add ingredients and monitor your food without lifting the lid off entirely. This is a fundamental change to how you interact with the machine and makes it significantly more intuitive for complex recipes.
2. The Insulated Bowl
The TM7’s 2.2L bowl is thermally insulated — meaning the outside of the bowl stays cool even when the contents are at 120°C. This makes it dramatically safer for South African families with children in the kitchen, and means you can handle the bowl directly after cooking without waiting for it to cool.
3. Cookidoo AI and Wi-Fi Updates
The TM7 receives automatic software updates via Wi-Fi — just like a smartphone. Vorwerk pushed a major update in September 2025 adding Recipe Handover (transfer recipes from your phone to the machine with a single tap) and Ingredient Presets (the machine suggests perfect settings for every ingredient automatically). More updates are already in development.
South African power note: The TM7 operates at 230V/50Hz — fully compatible with South African power supply. During load shedding, the TM7 requires a minimum 2000W UPS for full operation, or you can use it in lower-power modes (grinding, blending, cold mixing) on a smaller inverter.
TM7 vs TM6: Should You Upgrade?
If you own a TM6 in good working condition, the TM7 is worth upgrading for three specific reasons:
- You cook frequently and want the larger 10-inch screen for easier guided cooking
- Safety is a concern — the insulated bowl makes a significant difference with children around
- You want access to the new Open Cooking, Steaming and Browning functions for more diverse recipes
If your TM6 is working perfectly and you primarily use it for soups, smoothies and standard recipes, the TM6 remains an outstanding machine and there is no urgent need to upgrade immediately.
