This policy meets all requirements for Google Shopping listings, South African consumer law and international e-commerce standards.

This Returns and Refund Policy applies to all purchases made from Coffee & Blenders SA at coffeeandblenders.co.za. We are committed to your satisfaction and to full compliance with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECT Act), and Google Merchant Center shopping policy requirements. Please read this policy carefully before purchasing.

1 Return Window

Coffee & Blenders SA accepts returns within 30 calendar days from the date of delivery to the customer’s nominated delivery address. The 30-day return window applies to all products purchased on coffeeandblenders.co.za and meets the minimum return window required by Google Merchant Center for Shopping listings and free product listings in South Africa.

Returns received after the 30-day window will not be accepted unless the return is due to a manufacturing defect or fault covered under a manufacturer warranty, in which case the 6-month CPA implied warranty of quality provisions apply (see Section 7 below).

โ„น๏ธ Note for online purchases: In terms of Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECT Act), consumers who purchased online have an additional 7-day cooling-off right from the date of delivery โ€” independent of this policy โ€” during which they may cancel an online purchase without reason or penalty. The return shipping cost remains the customer’s responsibility unless the product is defective or incorrectly supplied.

2 Conditions for Eligible Returns

To be eligible for a return and refund, the following conditions must be met:

  • The return request is submitted within 30 days of the delivery date
  • The product is in its original, unused and unaltered condition
  • The product is in its original, undamaged manufacturer packaging with all seals intact
  • All original accessories, documentation, manuals, cables and components are included
  • The original proof of purchase (order confirmation or invoice) is included or referenced
  • The product has not been installed, permanently affixed, assembled or combined with other goods
  • The product has not been modified, tampered with or repaired by an unauthorised party
โš ๏ธ Important: Products that have been used, installed, connected to plumbing or electrical systems, or had their factory seals broken may not qualify for a standard change-of-mind return. Defective products are subject to the CPA warranty provisions in Section 7 of this policy regardless of installation status.

3 Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned under our standard returns policy (unless defective, as per CPA Section 55โ€“56):

  • Products that have been permanently installed, plumbed in or connected to a fixed electrical installation
  • Products that have been assembled, altered or modified after leaving Coffee & Blenders SA’s control
  • Products with broken, removed or tampered-with factory seals where the seal is integral to confirming unused condition
  • Products where the original packaging has been significantly damaged or destroyed beyond reasonable inspection
  • Consumable items that have been used (descaler solution, cleaning tablets, coffee beans or capsules)
  • Downloadable or digitally activated software, licences or subscription codes (including Cookidooยฎ subscription codes once activated)
  • Special-order, custom or non-standard products ordered specifically at a customer’s request
  • Products returned more than 30 days after delivery (except for defective goods under CPA Section 56)
โ„น๏ธ CPA override: The non-returnable restrictions above do not apply to products that are defective, unsafe, of poor quality or not fit for their intended purpose within 6 months of delivery. In those cases, the CPA Section 55โ€“56 implied warranty of quality provisions apply regardless of installation or use status.

5 How to Initiate a Return โ€” Step by Step

To initiate a return, follow these steps:

  1. 1
    Contact us within your return window Email sales@coffeeandblenders.co.za with your order number, the product name, the reason for the return, and โ€” for damaged or defective items โ€” one or more photographs showing the issue. Your return window begins on the date of delivery.
  2. 2
    Receive return authorisation (RMA) We will acknowledge your return request within 2 business days and issue a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number if the return is approved. Do not send goods back without an RMA number โ€” unauthorised returns may be refused.
  3. 3
    Package the product securely Repack the product in its original manufacturer packaging with all accessories, manuals, cables, and documentation. Write your RMA number clearly on the outside of the package. For high-value items (espresso machines, commercial grinders, Thermomixยฎ), we strongly recommend using a tracked and insured courier service.

    Ship the product to our return address Return Address: Coffee & Blenders SA, 92 Main Rd, Walmer, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, 6070, South Africa. For defective/incorrect items where we bear the return cost, we will arrange a courier collection from your address after RMA is issued.

    Inspection and resolution We will inspect the returned product within 3 business days of receiving it. If the return is approved, your refund, replacement or repair will be processed within the timeframes set out in Section 6 below. We will notify you by email at each stage of the process.

6 Refund Processing

Refund method

All approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method used at the time of purchase. We do not substitute refunds with store credit, gift vouchers or alternative payment methods unless specifically requested by the customer. In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, customers cannot be compelled to accept a credit note or voucher if they prefer a cash refund.

Partial refunds

A partial refund (deducting a reasonable handling or restocking fee) may apply in the following circumstances:

  • A change-of-mind return where the product has been removed from original packaging and re-packaged, but remains unused โ€” a reasonable repackaging fee may apply
  • A product returned with missing components, accessories or documentation โ€” the cost of missing items may be deducted
  • A product showing signs of reasonable use during the inspection period (as permitted by the CPA) โ€” a reasonable charge for consumption or use may apply

Original delivery / shipping fees paid at time of purchase are non-refundable for change-of-mind returns, unless the product was defective, incorrectly supplied or damaged in transit.

7 Consumer Protection Act โ€” 6-Month Implied Warranty

In terms of Section 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, every new product sold by Coffee & Blenders SA carries an implied warranty of quality. All products must be:

  • Reasonably suitable for the purposes for which they are generally intended
  • Of good quality, in good working order and free of any defects
  • Useable and durable for a reasonable period of time, having regard to the use to which they would normally be put
  • Compliant with any applicable South African standards

If any product purchased from Coffee & Blenders SA fails to satisfy these requirements within 6 months of the date of delivery, the customer may return the product to us โ€” without penalty and at our risk and expense โ€” and choose one of the following remedies:

  • Full refund of the original purchase price
  • Replacement of the product with an identical or equivalent product at no additional cost
  • Repair of the product โ€” any repair must be effective for a minimum of 3 months; if the same fault or another defect reappears within 3 months of repair, the customer may then demand either a replacement or a refund (a further repair is not an option at that stage)
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Your CPA rights cannot be excluded. The implied warranty of quality under the CPA applies irrespective of this returns policy, manufacturer warranty terms, or any other agreement. These rights exist independently and cannot be waived or contracted out of.

Manufacturer warranties โ€” additional coverage

In addition to the CPA implied warranty, all products sold by Coffee & Blenders SA carry their own manufacturer warranties:

  • Espresso machines and coffee grinders: 1-year carry-in manufacturer warranty from date of delivery, covering manufacturing and electrical faults under normal domestic use
  • Thermomixยฎ TM7 and TM6: 2-year statutory warranty from date of delivery for domestic use (1 year for commercial use)
  • Thermomixยฎ TM5 and TM31: Manufacturer warranty โ€” contact us for current terms
  • Commercial espresso machines (Wega, Lelit Giulietta X): 1-year commercial warranty โ€” excludes normal wear and tear, consumable parts and damage from improper use

Manufacturer warranties do not replace or limit CPA rights โ€” they exist in addition to them. Warranty service is coordinated through Coffee & Blenders SA. Proof of purchase from coffeeandblenders.co.za is required for all warranty claims.

โš ๏ธ Warranty void conditions: Use of non-manufacturer approved parts, accessories or cleaning agents. Unauthorised repairs or modifications. Damage caused by incorrect installation, misuse, physical damage, power surges or use outside the product’s intended specification. Use of non-approved water in machines without water filtration where hard water is known to cause damage.

8 Damaged or Incorrect Items on Delivery

If your order arrives damaged in transit or if you receive an incorrect product, please follow these steps:

  • Inspect your delivery immediately upon receipt, before the courier departs if possible
  • Report damage or incorrect items within 48 hours of delivery by emailing sales@coffeeandblenders.co.za
  • Include your order number, a description of the damage or error, and photographs clearly showing the damage or the incorrect item received
  • Retain all original packaging โ€” do not dispose of boxes, foam inserts or packaging materials until the claim is resolved, as these may be required for insurance purposes

Coffee & Blenders SA will arrange collection of the damaged or incorrect item at our expense and will either dispatch the correct replacement product or issue a full refund โ€” at the customer’s choice โ€” within the timeframes set out in Section 6.

โš ๏ธ Please note: Damage reported more than 48 hours after delivery may be treated as post-delivery damage, which may affect our ability to process the claim with our logistics and insurance providers. We strongly encourage immediate inspection of all deliveries.

9 Exchanges

Coffee & Blenders SA offers exchanges on eligible returned products within the 30-day return window, subject to the same eligibility conditions in Section 2. If you wish to exchange a product for a different model, colour or category:

  • Contact us at sales@coffeeandblenders.co.za to confirm stock availability of the desired replacement product
  • Return the original product in its original condition per the process in Section 5
  • If the replacement product is of higher value, you will be invoiced for the price difference before dispatch
  • If the replacement product is of lower value, the price difference will be refunded to your original payment method within 7 business days

Exchange shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer’s expense in both directions. Exchange shipping for defective, incorrect or damaged items is at Coffee & Blenders SA’s expense in both directions.

10 Order Cancellations

Before dispatch

If you wish to cancel an order that has not yet been dispatched, contact us immediately at sales@coffeeandblenders.co.za. If the order has not been collected by our courier, we will cancel it and process a full refund to your original payment method within 7 business days. No cancellation fee applies.

After dispatch โ€” before delivery

If your order has already been dispatched but has not yet been delivered, you may still cancel by contacting us. We will attempt to intercept the shipment. If interception is not possible, you will need to refuse delivery or return the product under the standard return process in Section 5. Return shipping costs for cancellations after dispatch are at the customer’s expense, unless the product is defective.

ECT Act 7-day online cooling-off period

In terms of Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECT Act), consumers who purchased products online have the right to cancel an online purchase within 7 days of receiving the goods โ€” without providing a reason and without penalty. The supplier (Coffee & Blenders SA) must refund the full purchase price within 15 business days of receiving the cancellation notice. The customer is responsible for the cost of returning the goods to Coffee & Blenders SA under this right.

โ„น๏ธ ECT Act note: The 7-day ECT Act cooling-off right applies specifically to transactions concluded online or via electronic means. It is separate from our 30-day goodwill returns window. Both rights are available to online purchasers during the applicable periods.

11 International Returns (Neighbouring Countries)

For customers in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Lesotho and Eswatini who have purchased from coffeeandblenders.co.za:

  • The same 30-day return window applies, calculated from the date of delivery to the customer’s address
  • All international return shipping costs are at the customer’s expense, except for defective or incorrectly supplied items where Coffee & Blenders SA will cover reasonable return shipping costs
  • Customers are responsible for all customs duties, import taxes or cross-border fees applicable to return shipments
  • Coffee & Blenders SA recommends using a reputable tracked and insured international courier for all international returns
  • Contact sales@coffeeandblenders.co.za before initiating any international return to receive specific instructions and an RMA number

12 Dispute Resolution & Consumer Rights Bodies

13 Policy Updates

Coffee & Blenders SA reserves the right to update or amend this Returns and Refund Policy at any time to reflect changes in South African consumer law, Google Merchant Center requirements or our business practices. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date. The policy in effect at the date of your purchase applies to that specific transaction.
